AMERICA’S FOUNDING: UNDERSTANDING OUR HERITAGE
A More Perfect Union: America Becomes a Nation http://www.xmission.com/~nccs/ampu.html
Winner of an Emmy Award, this stirring film takes place ten years after the Declaration of Independence was signed. The states' bickering threatens to dissolve this newly formed nation. A few brilliant patriots -- James Madison, George Washington, and others -- lead the fight to create a new government of united states. This film recreates the heated debates that happened during the 1787 Constitutional Convention. Filmed on location at Independence Hall, Williamsburg, and other sites, it dramatically chronicles how America became a nation and drafted the document that guards our freedoms today. After some minor scenes of fighting toward the film's beginning, which can be skipped, this is a movie for the entire family to enjoy.

On July 4, 2008, Charles Stanley's church invited Newt Gingrich to speak on two threats to America. The first is the internal secular effort to remove God from our public squares, by preventing Americans from learning about our godly history. The second is external: radical Islam seeks to replace western civilization with oppression. "The question cannot be, 'Is God on our side,' " he says. "The question has to be, 'Are we prayerfully seeking to understand God's side, and to make sure that America is on God's side." He illustrates with colorful stories from our founding to the present. Please note that the first video begins with a five and a half minute music video.
HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGE: A CHRISTIAN PERSPECTIVESame-Sex Partnerships? A Christian Perspective
http://www.amazon.com/Same-Sex-Partnerships-Perspective-John-Stott/dp/0800756746
John Stott is one of modern Christianity's most renowned scholars. Publishers Weekly writes that, in 96 pages, Stott discusses the biblical passages believed to condemn homosexuality, how to view those teachings in light of the Bible's positive teachings on human sexuality, and how arguments for same-sex relationships are contrary to God's design. In calling the church to loving action, Stott says that "at the heart of the homosexual condition is a deep loneliness, the natural human hunger for mutual love, a search for identity, and a longing for completeness."
CHRISTIANITY AND GOVERNMENT: HOW DO THEY RELATE? Three Secular Reasons Why America Should Be Under God

William J. Federer, the tireless historian behind AmericanMinute.com (http://www.americanminute.com/), lists three questions that he asks secular people in debate. He documents the Christian basis for a "yes" answer to each question, using quotations from America's founding fathers, state constitutions, and every American president through Bush Senior. The questions are: Do you like having rights the government cannot take away? Do you like being equal? Do you like a country with few laws? Here is one teaser quote from John F. Kennedy's Inaugural Address: "The rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God."

Often, Christ's followers are unaware of the proper interaction between government and faith. Dr. Stephen M. King outlines four keys to good civil government. He discusses key policy areas that impact evangelical beliefs, including what the Bible says on specific issues ranging from homosexuality to welfare. At the time of writing, Dr. King had spent over a decade researching and teaching in higher education, as well as five years in pastoral training and the ministry.
